Potential utilization of oil shale as a stabilizing material for compressed Earth block

This research aims to produce a compressed Earth block (CEB) product locally from soil collected North Jordan. The CEB mixture was further stabilized using oil shale (OS) and ordinary Portland cement (OPC). specimens were thoroughly characterized by studying their mechanical properties (compressive flexural strength) durability characteristics (erosion, absorption, shrinkage tests). Eight mixtures carried out for the CEB, one of which control mix. other replacing with OS, cement, sand in different proportions. results showed that higher compressive strength obtained contained 10% OS resulting an average 10.6 MPa 0.25 MPa. absorption increased when soil. consequent erosion test related test, where more negative test. Moreover, improved as proportion lower shrinkage. Finally, stabilizing agent had clear role improving properties, hiding cracks, reducing volume value CEB.
